Acne is a skin problem that occurs when pores of skin are blocked. Due to excessive oil and dead cells on skin, the pores get blocked. When microorganisms like bacteria and virus attack these blocked pores, it results in severe skin condition called acne. Acne appears in the form of blisters, white heads, black heads, pimples, and other eruptions on skin. These generally appear on face and neck, besides shoulder, chest, and back. Extent of acne varies in different individuals. It ranges from few pimples to excessive painful eruptions. Sometimes it results in permanent scarring of skin. It occurs in approximately 90 percent of people at some point. Teenagers form the largest group affected by acne. Acne is very common ailment and we must know the factors responsible for it. - Hormonal Imbalance - The most frequent reason is imbalance of hormones secreted in body. During growing years, there is very high production of hormones in human body. This huge increase does not get balanced and results in spread of acne.

- Food and Edibles- Specific food items like chocolates and oily foods are known to cause pimples if taken in huge amounts. Excess of sweet intake also leads to acne in some cases. Everyone has different acceptance levels for food he eats.
- Pore Blocking - Any accumulation of dead cells or oil in skin pores leads to outbreak of acne. It is most basic cause of acne in people who are immune to other reasons of genes and hormones. Blocking of skin pores can happen to anyone. Once these pores are attacked by microbes, it leads to the formation of pus and blister.
- Medication - Some specific medicines cause chemical reactions inside human body that causes blisters and pus. History of allergic reactions worsens the situation.
- Stress- It is believed to be a strong reason that acts as catalyst to acne development. A person with history of chronic anxiety has higher chances of catching acne. It is believed that tension leads to release certain toxins in body. These toxins are harmful as they can lead to pimples and skin itching.
- Hygiene- Dirty surroundings and unhygienic lifestyle assists in acne growth. Harmful viruses and bacteria cling to skin in unclean places. They might lead to spread of pimples.
Acne needs more attention as it is both a disease and an impediment to looking good. The biting truth is one does feel low with pimples marring his clean skin. It turns into social menace capable of pushing the person into depression. Therefore, it is very essential to follow adequate treatment and medical counsel regarding acne.
